Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Original or AI (the “Service”) at originalorai.com. Using the Service means you accept them. If any part of them does not work for you, please do not use the Service.

1. What this is

Free tools that estimate whether media or text was generated or altered by artificial intelligence, plus a plagiarism checker that searches extracted text passages against indexed public web pages. Media detection runs inside the browser. Plagiarism search uses a server endpoint and third-party search provider. Outputs are statistical or search-coverage scores with supporting signals; they are not authentication or proof.

2. Offered without warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of fitness for a particular purpose. Detection of this kind is probabilistic by nature. It gets things wrong in both directions — genuine photographs are sometimes flagged, generated ones sometimes pass — and no output of it may be treated as proof of how a picture was made.

3. Not evidence, and not a certification

Results must not be used as evidence, and we issue no validation, certification or attestation of any kind about any picture. A score is the output of a statistical model that ran on your own machine. There has been no forensic examination, no chain of custody exists, no qualified examiner has looked at it, and there is nobody who could be questioned about it afterwards.

You agree not to submit, cite or rely on a result as proof of how a picture was made in:

  • litigation, arbitration, mediation, or any civil or criminal proceeding;
  • insurance claim determinations or fraud investigations;
  • immigration, visa, asylum or identity-verification decisions;
  • hiring, promotion, employment or disciplinary decisions;
  • academic misconduct, plagiarism or examination proceedings;
  • credit, lending, tenancy or eligibility assessments;
  • moderation action taken against a person without human review;
  • any other process in which somebody may be penalised, excluded or accused.

Where a decision of that kind turns on whether a picture is authentic, instruct a qualified digital forensic examiner. The specific circumstances in which this tool is known to be unreliable are set out on the accuracy and limits page, which forms part of these terms.

4. Decisions are yours

You are solely responsible for what you do with a result, and for anything you do or fail to do because of one. Weigh it against provenance, context and your own judgement. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Service — including loss arising from a genuine picture being flagged or a generated one being missed. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

5. Not professional advice

The Service gives no legal, financial, investigative, medical or other professional advice, and using it creates no professional relationship between us. Nothing it produces substitutes for advice from a qualified professional in the relevant field.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • process pictures you have no lawful right to use;
  • submit documents you have no lawful authority to send for online search;
  • use the Service to harass, defame or unlawfully monitor anybody;
  • disrupt or overload the Service, or work around its technical limits;
  • present a result as a definitive, certified or authenticated finding of authorship;
  • tell anybody that we have verified, validated or certified a picture;
  • use the Service on behalf of a person under 13 years of age.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, its design, its text and the underlying model belong to Original or AI or its licensors and are protected by applicable law. You keep every right you hold in media and documents you check. We acquire no ownership in them. Media files remain local; plagiarism-search text is processed as described in the privacy policy.

8. Third-party components

The Service loads web fonts from a third-party CDN and, when you paste a link to a picture a site will not serve directly to your browser, may route that single request through a third-party proxy. The plagiarism checker sends exact text passages to a configured web-search provider. Those providers operate under their own terms. The detail is in the privacy policy.

9. Price

The Service is free in full, and no paid tier exists. Nothing is advertised for sale on this site, no price is published, and no payment can be taken. The pricing page describes what a paid tier might one day cover; that description is a statement of intent and not an offer capable of acceptance. If such a tier is ever launched, separate subscription terms covering billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds will be presented before any payment is taken, and everything the free tier does today will remain free.

10. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the Service at any time without notice, and we may update these terms. Material changes are reflected in the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the revised terms.

11. Interpretation

Nothing in these terms limits any right you hold under mandatory local law. If a provision turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of them continue to apply.
